| All aboard! Harris joins Stars |

Photo credit: Peoria RivermenSouthern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) centre Josh Harris will join the Proski Newcastle North Stars this season, rounding out the side's import roster. A teammate of Brandon Greenside, Harris is currently in a finals run with Peoria Rivermen, having returned recently to the team after a period off the ice due to injury. In 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, Harris was one of the top scorers in the SPHL, scoring at close to a point a game with an SPHL +/- stat of +18 over the past three seasons. The American from Torrance, California (south-west of Los Angeles) who turns 28 years old this week, began his hockey career in junior ranks, followed by four years at Castleton State College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Harris' career includes eight games in the East Coast Hockey League, and six games in the Central Hockey League, aside from his three seasons in the SPHL. North Stars coach Andrew Petrie feels that Harris will be an ideal candidate to meet the needs of his team for season 2016. "Josh has a highly skilled style using strong skating, excellent sense of space and time and is a gifted stick-handler," Petrie said. "We are getting a highly-motivated professional in Josh and all conversations to date have me very comfortable that he will fit into the North Stars culture very well.” |
