The Northstars now sit in second place after their double header away weekend against Adelaide Adrenaline.

On Saturday night, the Northstars fell at the final hurdle in a shootout after responding well to a fiery Adrenaline side after they farewelled Greg Oddy following a 20 year career.

Adrenaline were first on the scoreboard, however Pat Nadin didn’t leave it unanswered. Following a pass from Shane Southwood, Nadin was able to sneak it past Andersson.

Before the team travelled to South Australia, general manager Garry Doré talked about the dynamics that have formed within the team.

“I’m really enjoying the player dynamics between Pat Nadin, Liam Manwarring and Matt Wetini and Shane Southwood.

“Those young guys are really stepping it up and competing with the best in the league.”  

And step it up they did, with Shane Southwood scoring during Saturday’s game.

At the end of the third period two quick goals from Nick Rivait and Zane Jones saw the Northstars level the score after being down 5-3, sending the game to shootout.

Unfortunately, the Northstars lost 6-5 to the Adrenaline after the shootout. However, Sunday bought redemption for Newcastle.

On Sunday, the Northstars came out hungry for the win and never let up during the game.

Goals from Pat Nadin, Zane Jones and Nick Rivait helped get the 4-2 win.
