Winning streak extended on the Road
Sunday, July 16, 2023 - Submitted by Courtney Kynaston

The Northstars extend their winning streak in Adelaide, winning 9-5 on Saturday and 5-2 on Sunday.

On Saturday, Riley Klugerman secured two goals in the first period along with Patrick Ward, Daniel Berno and Wehebe Darge, giving the Northstars a 5-2 lead over the home team. Adelaide’s Brett Radford and Coy Prevost scored for the home squad.

Period two saw the Northstars Daniel Berno and Francis Drolet score the only two goals of the period, unanswered by Adelaide extending the visitors lead.

Fighting back in the third period, Ben Handberg and Joey Macdougall opened the scoring for Adelaide, but Northstars Tanner Butler and Liam Manwarring responded in quick succession. The final goal of the game, scored by Julian Friederich, lifted the home team’s spirits, but they could not catch the visitors.

On Sunday, Tanner Butler opened the scoring for the Northstars, and Adelaide’s Nathaniel Benson tied the game to close out the first period.

Daniel Berno, Wehebe Darge and Riley Klugerman scored one goal each in period two, unanswered by Adelaide.

Brett Radford opened the scoring in period three for Adelaide, but Northstars Daniel Berno secured his second of the night and the win for the visiting team.

The Northstars travel up to Brisbane to face the Lightning for their last double-header away weekend.
