It was a tough night for the Northstars facing the CBR Brave on Saturday night.
Reliably an exciting match-up when these two teams meet saw the fans on the edge of their seats, but the Brave would take the 2-6 victory in the sold-out game in Newcastle.
Speaking with Head Coach Kevin Noble, he shared “The lesson has to come internally in there (pointing to the dressing room). It’s for them to decide what type of team and players they want to be.”
“They were the better team tonight and credit to Canberra, we weren’t close and we have to do some soul searching. Nothing really matters systematically or in regard to our approach and structure. The guys need to want to play and buy-in and they need to decide that for themselves.”
“I think that we started off the game a little bit complacent and the first 20 minutes hurt us. It’s hard to come back from three nothing down, but I did think we were really good in patches” shared Captain Liam Manwarring.
“Second period was unbelievable and when we play our pace no one can play with us, but were just too hot and cold and we didn’t stay hot for long enough in periods.”
“We’ve got some work to do yet, but everything happens for a reason, I believe.”
“We have to be good on demand. We have a Sunday afternoon game and a lot of guys need to go back to focusing on their individual game obviously we’ll address that in our players and staff meetings, but tomorrow we need to come out and put on a show and get back to our best in front of our home crowd.”
The Northstars will be at home again tomorrow facing the Brisbane Lightning in the rescheduled game. Puck drops at 3.00pm
